Periodontic Dentistry
Periodontic dentistry involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases that affect the tissues, bones and ligaments surrounding the teeth. Periodontic dentistry can include various procedures, some as simple as teeth cleaning, and some as complex as bone and gum grafting and the placement of dental implants, all while maintaining the health and structure of these bones and tissues. The need for periodontic dentistry is growing for numerous reasons.
- The incidence of gum disease is on the rise.
- Gum disease has been linked to various serious health problems, including diabetes and heart disease.
- The average life expectancy is greater than ever before.
- Only recently have people begun to expect to keep their teeth throughout their entire lifetime.
- Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss.
- With the average life expectancy increasing, people want to remain vital, healthy and attractive throughout their life.
Periodontic dentistry includes an array of procedures such as root scaling, root planing and pocket reduction therapy to treat gum disease, along with the placement of dental implants to replace lost teeth, or to anchor dentures. Also included are some cosmetic procedures such as gum reduction.
If you are experiencing puffy, bleeding gums, loose teeth, or already have some missing teeth, call Aesthetic Dentistry of Arrowhead to schedule an examination. Dr. Ceyhan will examine your mouth, gums and teeth, take x-rays, and review your medical history. He will look for gum line recession and check the depth of the periodontal pockets. He will then determine a treatment plan and discuss it with you.
Don’t allow gum disease to progress to lost teeth, or bacteria from the gum disease to enter your bloodstream and cause other health issues. If you have already lost teeth, find out if dental implants are an option for you. Patients who have lost some or all their natural teeth can regain oral functionality and prevent further bone loss with dental implants. Modern periodontic dentistry can be virtually painless, and sedation dentistry is available when necessary. Aesthetic Dentistry of Arrowhead also has payment plans available, so is there is no longer any need to suffer.
