“Hi, I’m Dr. Greg Ceyhan from Aesthetic Dentistry of Arrowhead in Glendale, Arizona and that’s in the Arrowhead area.
Cavities, or as we call them, caries is probably the most prevailing disease in the world. And yes, it is a disease because it’s caused by bacteria. The bacteria actually eat holes into your teeth and that’s how some people get what they call a toothache, because the hole’s gotten too big and it’s gotten too large and now, the nerves of the tooth is infected. So, it’s important to have regular visits with your Glendale dentist, so that, we can actually catch these cavities when they’re tiny and prevent them from becoming bigger problems, such as root canals.
Another thing that we can do is, in kids, soon as their permanent teeth come in, we can seal up their teeth to prevent cavities from forming in the first place. A lot of times, these permanent teeth have bruise in them that have incomplete formations in them and bacteria gets trapped in there and actually causes the cavity as soon as the tooth starts forming. So, as soon as the teeth starts erupting, it’s already starting to form a cavity. So, probably the best thing I can recommend, is seeing the dentist regularly, fluoride treatments, getting sealants on the teeth and really catching stuff when it’s small.”
